Architects is a well-known British metalcore band from Brighton, East Sussex, founded in 2004 by twin brothers Dan and Tom Searle. The current lineup includes drummer Dan Searle, vocalist Sam Carter, bassist Alex Dean and guitarist Adam Christianson. They have been affiliated with Epitaph Records since 2013.

Their initial musical style, heavily influenced by bands such as The Dillinger Escape Plan, was raw, chaotic, and rhythmically complex throughout their first three albums. However, with 2011’s The Here and Now, Architects ventured into a more melodic post-hardcore direction, which left some of their fans feeling disconnected.

They returned to their original sound the following year with “Daybreaker,” which balanced melody and technical intensity while also incorporating more politically charged lyrics. Their sixth album, Lost Forever // Lost Together, released in 2014, brought them lasting recognition and critical acclaim.
In 2016, following the release of their seventh album, All Our Gods Have Abandoned Us, tragedy struck the band when guitarist and main songwriter Tom Searle passed away after a three-year battle with skin cancer. The loss left Dan Sale as the only original member. In 2017, they released the single “Doomsday,” which was the last song Tom worked on before his death.
Around this time, Middleton was named the new lead guitarist. The single appears on their debut album produced without Tom, Holy Hell, released in November 2018. Their latest work, Classic Symptoms of a Broken Spirit, was released on October 21, 2022.
